What is Coolsculpting?

What is Coolsculpting?

People continue to look for ways to make their bodies look better. There are the usual methods ofcontrolling your food intake and increasing your exercise. Thanks to the advancement of medical science, other methods have been found. For example, liposuction is a surgical method that was developed to address this need. Another recent scientific development which promises to help people look better is Cryolipolysis, short for cryogenic lipolysis. It is known by another name, Coolsculpting.

For people who are wondering what this new technique is, here are some of its important points. First of all, one key feature of this treatment is that it is non-invasive. This is a major difference from surgical methods such as liposuction. There are no incisions involved here, no cutting or slicing. There is also no need to be given an anesthetic during this procedure.

The name of the treatment already hints at what it does. Coolscupting uses cooling and freezing in order to eventually destroy fat cells. The interesting thing is that it is able to do this without destroying the skin or surrounding non-fat cells. In that sense, the treatment is targeted. Once the fat cells are destroyed by the cold, they will be flushed out of the body over time.

Another thing to note about this procedure is that it works best when it comes to those parts of the body which have visible bulges that the patient would like to reduce or get rid of. This can apply, for example, to the so-called love handles or flanks. It could also apply to bulges in the abdominal area. Bulges are good targets because the apparatus used during the procedure actually has two pieces which do the cooling and freezing. The specific bulge of the patient is pulled in between these two pieces, in order to be cooled and frozen.

At first, the patient will feel a noticeable sense of pressure as well as a very cold sensation. This will go away after a while. In fact, patients can do other things while they're undergoing the non-invasive treatment. They could watch some television, or do some reading on a tablet. They could just choose to sleep, if they wish, since the procedure is not painful nor does it cause much discomfort. Once the treatment is over, the person could go back to work if he or she wishes. That's one of the major benefits of the fact that Coolsculpting is non-surgical and non-invasive.

Some patients find that they notice visible changes after only a few treatments. That said, the elimination of the fat cells does occur over time so that it takes place over weeks and months. The patient will undergo a consultation and discussion with a medical professional before the procedure, to help map out how the treatment will be given over time.

Much will also depend on the specific needs of the patient. Multiple target bulges will tend to take longer to eliminate than fewer ones. If the patient is already satisfied with changes after only a few treatments, then he or she can end the visits. However, if the patient would like even more loss of bulges, then the visits can go on for a longer time.
